Damn that was a wild and crazy ride ! 7600 miles and 2 break downs ! We started out heading west out of NYC..We crusing down the highway in super high spirits ready to take on the world..or at least the US...then all of a sudden it sounded like we had a flat tire.. no big deal...we'll change it and get back on the open road....right? wrong.........no flat.. the front bearings fell apart ..so we caught a hotel in rural Lewiston Pensylvania and spent the night in the hotel lounge drinking super cold $2 black n tans ! it was a quick fix and we were on the road by 4pm the next day thanks to BUCKS auto..where we met the most humble , nicest man on the earth.named FUZZ.. for real..that was his name. Fuzz stood no more than 5 1/2 feet .A self described farm boy who has a few sons and lets them rehearse in the barn with their rock band.what a cool dude.this guy was all about us...and this town didnt look like they would be if ya get my drift.He kept us company while we waited for the van to be repaired.then it was back on the highway...
on and on we drove ..got pulled over in Indiana..no big deal. the cop was actually cool..ran our papers and gave us a warning. He was a brother so i knew I was good !
Finally we get to Milwaukee Wisconson..crashed out.had a quick rehearsal @ billy's mother's garage.She gave us a place to crash and made sure we ate...Mom style ! There we picked up Billy's brother Matchezz to head on the road with us..Matchezz was our go to guy on the tour.He handled our merch and was a set of extra hands whenever we needed it.Big ups to Matchezz ! thank you brother for all the help.now just move to NYC !
We hit madison Wisconson the next day to perform at "University of Wisconson in Madison".That was a killer night.we had forgotten our cameras and video at the hotel which was a shame since the crowd was really diggin the Brooklyn stylee we were giving! Signed a few CD"s ..sold a bunch of CD's and Tshirts..met a bunch of cool people and played a true Killer set at the dope location which is on right on a huge lake at the University...man that was good. summer night on the water..Bright moon, great stage great sound and a crowd that couldnt get enough..this is what its all about homey ! Good times.
next night we head over to the High Noon Saloon in Madison Wisconson..This place was really cool.Cant wait to return.great sound and good beer ! Good tequilla too ! thank you to the bartenders that night ! thanks for buying me those shots..met some really cool people that night..thats the best part other than the performance..its hangin out with the peeps that really enjoyed what you gave them.thats the shit.thats the prize..the gleam in their eye..when they tell you their favorite part of the set. or ask you a bunch of questions and you can see they really want to know ...yup its all good times baby.
next day we drove up to Billy's brothers house and crashed their.had a camp fire..drank more beer,tequilla, BBQ'd some deer burgers and played with guns ! yeah...thats what we did...
Sunday we drove up to West Bend Wisconson and performed at the Brewhaus Theatre..
the sound was pretty crappy but the place was really cool.it was an old theatre..Had the sound been right then it would be a possible return spot..Thats where we met this 60 year old guy who's name I cant think of..Sanford? maybe? maybe not.. anyway this dude was way too hip...
name dropping bands like you wouldn't believe.I mean come on.how many grand pas you know talk about all the band s you dig ? or should dig? this guys was on top of his shit. peace to you my man ..keep it cool..
back on the road we get goin to Denver Colorado and get to the Dovo residence where David's parents recieved us with a killer dinner ! Cubano style...4 bottles of wine ! yeah man..
we ate we kicked it..great times..thank you very much Mr. and Mrs. Dovo..
we crashed at Davids sisters house. where her family wa soo accomodating and gave us a whole downstairs private apartment..word up.I sort of forgot where we were..
next day we performed at Owsleys Golden road which is operated by a little bitch named Jay Bianchi.they also own Hodi's half note and Cervante's...anyway stay clear from this dude if you are a musician.he didnt wanna pay me at the end of the night.so I collected my $$ Brooklyn style...I ran his pockets and took it..I'll spare you the details but lets just say he wont forget it...Its a shame since the place was cool.He's a cunt and thats enough to NOT return and Never give him our buisness...we gotta put people like that out of buisness and shut em down !
We left Colorado and headed for Los Angeles which we were all super-psyched for ! We were doing a live performance on KXLU radio at Loyola Marymount University..We were asked to be on by DJ Michael Stock of Part Time Punks...He's got a killer show..We did what we do best.we had hoped to do an interview but ran out of time..sucks but the performance was still scorching ! next day in the afternoon we headed over to Venice beach to check out the characters on the set.and stroll in the sunshine.venice beach is a trip..we passed out a bunch of cd's to the public and called it a day. That night we played at "Punky reggae Party" in downtown LA also put on by DJ Michael Stock of Part Time Punks....This night was so hot on fire I think our amps overheated ! the crowd was wildin out ! We were wildin out ! This was our 2nd time playing this party and we love it.Cant wait to get back there in Feb hopefully.Its in a crazy mexican club called La Cita.Looks like it was a mexican bar in the 70's...wild style baby...super psychedelic looking..red lights and shit.Bull fighter murals..whoa..
next morning we headed to San Diego to play at Winstons Beach club.opening for "Elijah Emmanuel and the Revelations".. these guys were funny..all anti-social and shit..whatever.We killed it and burnt the stage down..We like playing Cali cuz when we do ,we bring that east coast fire breathing hard rocking sharp as a razor switchblade reggae sound ! and its interesting to see how it affects people that are so used to getting the "peace love and roses reggae vibes"..ya dig what Im sayin..?
then it was off to Corpus Christi Texas...oh man..here is where enter into purgatory..
I wont go too into it cuz I dont want to relive it...but here it goes.
we got there and had a terible hotel. had to switch it...super shady.. they had to be running a drug spot there and we interrupted it..yeah.. not to mention leather faced junky hookers wandering around. so for fearing the safety of our gear we decided to bounce.
checked into another hotel and our van broke down again.
We had it towed too Mikes Mobile auto and he had it for 6 days which left us stranded in texas with NOTHING to do.thank god there was a liquor store walking distance and the hotel had a pool and hot tub...The van had caught fire multiple times and had gone out on its own according the mechanic..the whole wiring harness through out the van was melted ! That explains the smoke,stalling, and bacon smell....yeah...it sucked !
anyway the show we played at was at "Revolution bar" and that went really cool..the owner was cool enough to pick us up at the hotel with all our gear and bring us to and from the gig..The crowd was excellent and we killed it..Not sure whether or not we'll return to CC Texas though.. we believe its cursed..Shit was too weird there..its got that Twilight Zone thing going on.Lotta Church,drugs,guns,and Porn !.It felt like a David Lynch movie...for real..
due to the van being crapped out we had to cancel our recreational party time stop in New Orleans and our gig in Orlando FL..which we were looking forward to linkin up with the guys from Horizen and Passafire..soon come though..we'll make it happen...
we headed back to NYC and drove straight from Texas only stopping for gas..37 hours !
that was a bit much and it seemed like we were on the verge of cracking at any given moment...
until we saw the NYC skyline ahead.
It felt good to be home..

The Cool and Deadly just returned from their California tour !! While out there promoting the release of "Deadly EP" they met tons of cool people @ all the shows who were down to support and buy CD's and T-shirts to help keep it moving !! We performed @ "Punky Reggae Party " at La Cita in downtown LA to a packed house.The crowd was wild and the night was right ! If you weren't there you should have been !! SOUND BURIAL !!
